Sydney buyers eye off unique Flynn home during lockdown

Designed by Arkitex architect Alessandro D’Ambrosio and built last year, the four-bedroom main residence is complimented by a separate self-contained studio or multipurpose room.

Selling agent Jason Anasson, from McGrath Canberra said the home at 1/49 Spalding Street had attracted significant interest, including from prospective buyers in lockdown in Sydney.

“We’ve had good numbers through during the campaign, predominantly young families and interstate interest from the likes of Sydney, although we’ve had some difficulties getting people through to have a look with the latest lockdown,” Mr Anasson said.

Set on a 617sqm block, the home offers 306sqm of living space, including the detached studio, with multiple living zones on the ground level and an upstairs living room with a coffered ceiling.

Mr Anasson said the large, bespoke custom kitchen had been a crowd pleaser with its blue tones and butler’s pantry.

Additional features include double-glazed windows, hybrid timber floors, ducted airconditioning and high decorative ceilings.

“The thing that’s great about this home is that it’s effectively a five-bedroom residence,” he said. “There’s four bedrooms under the main house and it’s got an out building with an additional bedroom with its own living area and bathroom, which gives added versatility.”

Mr Anasson said the Flynn market had shown considerable strength in recent months, particularly for new homes.

“It’s quite unique to see a new build because most of the properties in the area were built around the 1970s and 1980s, so there hasn’t been a huge number of new offerings,” he said.

“We did sell another knockdown-rebuild at 7 Spalding Street about a month-and-a-half ago, and that’s currently the record for the suburb at $1.561 million.

“Prior to that, we sold another knockdown-rebuild in Flynn in June last year that had the previous record at $1.3 million.”

The property will go to auction on Saturday 7 August. The price guide is $1.25 million to $1.35 million.
